Re: O/D light

your transmission has an internal problem (s).
reading trouble codes will help to understand.

Re: O/D light

dsford - you'll have to get the code(s) pulled to better diagnose the problem. When the overdrive light comes on, on the dash, can you still drive in over drive or does it keep you locked in a lower gear?

Re: O/D light

What year is your car? If it's pre-'96, you can pull the codes with a paperclip (jumper wire).

Question Re: O/D light

How exactly would the paper clip work in pulling the codes? My OD OFF light just showed up. I own a 95 Grand Marquiz 4.6. I can feel that the light always comes on at about 25MPH when is shifting gears (1-2 is my guess)as soon as the change is in progress the light comes on. Although I ave had the light not showed up until I was at 50 MPH and shifting on a different gear. Got the Haynes Ford transmissions manual which i am currently going through.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: O/D light

Autozone will check the codes for free. Tell them your car has OBD2.
