Oil for a CVPI - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I recently bought a 2000 CVPI and was going to take it into one of those Valvoline Instant oil change places. The car has about 125k miles on it, and really do not know that last time the oil was changed. What would the best oil be for this?? 10w/30? 10w/40? What about a synthetic or a synthetic blend? Thanks.

I use what the factory recommends, 5w30. Mine has 152,000 miles. Some people use synthetic oil but I don't. I change mine every 2-3000 miles depending on how I drove during that time.

Thanks!! Wasn't sure if one type, weight of an oil would make a difference on these engines.

I have over 240k miles on my '99 Marquis and put in 5w30 Havoline.
