Re: Plastic rear end cover

They are only for cosmetic purposes. Your plastic one works just fine, unless you know that it's cracked or something, but even then I would just get another plastic one from a junkyard. If you happen to be into cosmetics and think people will be looking underneath your car a lot, then go for it! BTW, you'll love those 3.55s.

Re: Plastic rear end cover

Plastic? On an 89? I wanna see pics, because I've never heard of an 89 with a plastic cover, some of the newer ones, but not the old boxes.

If you are really worried about it, you can find an sheet metal aluminum one from a newer 8.8 rear end. Probably just as light but made of aluminum so it'll be a lot stronger.

Re: Plastic rear end cover

I got a new ford "take out" cover steel for 6 bucks here was some silicone on it but there was no oil ever on it not bad. I 'am going to change the wheel bearings and seals too. Doing it my self I build diffs and trany;s for truck for a living.
