Right now I'm looking at a 2003 p71. I have not seen it in person, but it looks clean and has 72k miles. It's going for $4700. Is this a good deal. Also, this would be my first car. Are these car reliable? What tends to go wrong? What should I be looking for? Thank in advance for the advice.

An '03 with 72k on it for $4700 is a great deal if it's in good shape, which if it's been owned by a police department, it more than likely is. They're an incredibly reliable car; the cab drivers that buy old P71s usually run them to 350,000 miles before retiring them. The one problem you'll most likely run into is the interiors tend to get a little bit ratty on police cars, and there may be a few holes in the body from antennas and such. As long as all the fluids look good, it runs and drives well, I'd say go for it.
