Hello
The front speakers on my Crown Vic sound terrible.How do I get the door panels off without breaking anything so I can replace these speakers?Thanks.

1. Remove window regulator control switch housing by gently prying up, starting at the front.
2. Disconnect all connectors from window regulator control switch housing.
3. Remove inside door handle cup by gently prying at screwdriver slot with a screwdriver. (That's the one bhind the door handle).
4. Remove screw directly beneath inside door handle.
5. Remove lower screw holding front door trim panel to the door.
6. Lift front door trim panel upward.
7. Disconnect wire harnesses from door panel as required and remove front door trim panel.

What size are they? I've been told that they are either 5-1/4" round or 5x7" but I haven't taken my door apart yet to find out for sure.

Sorry for the late reply.the speakers are 5x7 with a wizzer cone,junk!Use a good 5x7 with tweeter(2-way)Works good.

Like most auto speakers they are 4 ohm.The rear speakers of my Vicky are coaxial (two way) but after 12 years of use the tweeter in the center was bad due to dust and debris in the voice coil,freezing it.The main cone was still servicable but you would be better off replacing both rear speakers.Even with a stock radio,the difference with new coaxial speakers is amazing.Also remove the rear covering that hangs down into the trunk.It was put there to protect the cones of the speakers from being blown up by trunk slamming.Newer speakers are more rugged.By doing this you get better bass response because the trunk makes a great baffel.Nobody has to slam a trunk hard if it's working properly,it's just a bad habit.
I'm a retired electronic tech and spent many of my younger years under dashes and trunks installing radios and speakers.Belive me it was easier back then.

Thanks for your reply. I've had some front speakers from a Camry sitting around in the garage and I thought they were some odd rating but they are 4 ohm also. They're 6" round though...guess I could get them to fit. I'm not too interested in premium sound and just want to get it sounding decent in case I decide to trade it in. The left front is blown, I guess and sounds terrible.
