My a 86 Crown Victoria starts fine but misses a little then it will die after a couple minutes of running. Starts back up fine. When driving I get to around 35 MPH and going up hill or down and try to accelerate it gets a jerking motion, and it sounds to me like a miss in the engine, but if I put the peddel to the floor it takes off and runs great.
I have had it to my mechanic but he couldn't find the problem, recomended that I use higher octane fuel. And I do but is hasn't helped.
I have new , points, rotor, condensor, plug wires, new exaust system front to back. any help will be appriciated

It might either be the magnetic pick up in the distributor or the timing chain, at low rpms it will through the engine brain off time. I just now put a msd HEI distributor in my car and smoked a set of drag wheels, run great at low rpms, it was doing what you described.
