Re: Scanner question
I'd guess you're better off to just pay a shop to pull codes for you. I just looked at ebay to see what the old snap on mt2500 scanners are going for and they're still running anywhere between $400-$800 and there's the potential you'd still have to buy adapters, personality keys, or cartridges to boot. I've had the snap on MT2500 (more commonly known as the brick) and the ethos scanner in another shop and currently, i get to use the snap on Modis scanner. All of these scanners can pull trans DTC's but run thousands of dollars both new and used alike. The Modis goes for around $10K new. Mac, Matco, OTC and others all sell scanners that likewise run in the thousands. I just thumbed through my Mac and Matco catalogs and I can't find a scanner that advertises anything to read trans DTC's. Just about all of them now like to advertise support for OBDII systems from 1996 up and the new CAN bus systems so they might be able to pull trans codes anyway but you're still talking about hundreds to thousands to buy the technology.
