I just finished installing my Hurst short throw shifter and chrome 16\" handle (pics to come ASAP, I promise) and I'm stuck on what to use for a shift knob.

8-ball is too played out and I'm not sure a cue ball is unique enough, either (not to mention that I don't play pool nearly as much as I'd like to).

I want something unique and cheap. I can get anything drilled and tapped for ~$5. I want an item that's $10 or less if I can, just to keep it interesting.

Give me your ideas!

I've always liked the minature piston. Don't see too many of those these days. Especially if it is chromed.

Stag Horn? A shorty box & open wrench welded up as a T-Handle? A nice piece of Burl wood? A Granite or Marble ball used for artsy farsty decoration? I'm coming up dry here.

Doh, another couple of ideas. A glass ball, or one of those big glass pretend grapes or cherry's that Grandma had on her table in a bunch as decoration. How about the 1 billiard ball to remember the year the Towers came down. One of those dummy pineapple grenades upside down, or just cruise K-Mart for things that could be converted to your use?

Or maybe an old hand gun!

One more I can think of... no I think that's all I have. I doubt they're useful either. :-)
