Hello, I have a question....I got a 99 grand marquis when you shift to go into reverse, park, drive, etc. It always doesnt feel like it is in gear. The shifter feels loose on the steering colum. What can i do? Thanks

Take it to a Ford Dealer where someone with the right experience can diagnose and fix the problem for you. If you are unsure on how to fix it, then let the pros do it.

Re: Shifting problem (99 grand marquis)

I would have one person sit in the car and work the shifter up and down through the gears and try to watch the shift linkage under the hood and down by the tranny. If everything seems fine with the linkage, it could be the transmission detents.

Word to the wise (though you probably know this already), if you get under the car MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE the car cannot roll and squish you, because if you take the car out of park without the engine running, every gear acts like neutral.
