Sputtering and Stalling - Ford Forums

Hello all!

I am the not so proud owner of a 1990 GM. For the past week my car has been sputter and stalling. Took it to a mechanic who told me that I needed a full tune up so we had him change the plugs, wires, fuel filter etc. He also cleaned out the IAC valve which was clogged. We picked up the car it drove fine however the very next day it started with the sputtering and stalling again. What other things do we need to check for because the mechanic cannot see anything else wrong. And Im getting sick of dumping cash into this thing.

Did he check for codes?

yes apparently all it needed was a tune up majorly. Tune up didn't help the damn thing is still stalling.
I have a really strong smell of gas when the car is turned off.

Have you checked for fuel leaks?
