I have a 1999 Grand Marquis that stalls when the car is at idle. It runs fine until you stop, then it dies. As long as you keep your foot on the gas it runs fine. It does not do this all the time. It went a week in between times. After you drive a couple of miles the problem seems to have worked it self out for a little while, and will idle at a stop.

Sounds like an idle air control valve issue...$50 part.

Actually, my crown vic was doing the same thing a few years ago. Check all your vacuum/vacuum lines. I had a dried out connections. $10.00 and it was a good as can be.

IAC is probably clogged with gunk... you can clean it or buy a new one. I've cleaned three of them so far in each car I bought. Drive it like you want to get somewhere and it will never gum up again. Drive like an old fart, and you'll get real good at the procedure...
