I gotta problem, my CV is not shifting the way it is supposed to. It shifts hard and the tach is going up to about 3g before it changes even at light throttle. Also at cruising speeds it seems not to be "all the way" in OD. normally at 75 mph it is taching at about 2g , now it tachs at about 2200. Before it started acting up it would shift precisely at 42mph into OD. Now it shifts at about 50 mph. At times it works just fine. I did a diagnostic on it and found that the EGR voltage regulator has a problem and the self test says that it was unable to regulate the rpm's at low speed and at high speed.The throttle position sensor is "out of range". The idle is unusually high(about 1100). I unplugged the TPS and it ran at the right idle speed.I took the throttle body off and cleaned all the passages into the EGR and cleaned the gunk out of the EGR , then applied a vacume and it works fine. I don't have a voltimeter to check the voltage for the regulator. Now , my question is can all this be coming from one thing or is it just a coincidence that it all went bad at one time. The EGR regulator and the EGR along with the TPS was replaced about 2 years ago. HELP!!!

i would look into the tranny first hows the fluid pink or brown color what tranny do you have in it ? smell the tranny stick see if any burnt smell to it

The fluid is red and doesn't smell burned. The tranny came out of a 95 T-bird.

The TPS couldn't have been affected by your EGR. If it's out of range, replace it.
Is the EGR now functioning properly?
These issues are much simpler than diagnosing transmission problems. Take care of what you know is wrong before you attempt diagnosing something that could be caused by other things.

The transmission's Torque converter is not locking up?
Just a guess, of course, but the easiest(if you dont get an answer here)way to find out is to take it to a Transmission shop for Diagnosis.

On the EGR and TPS going bad at once. They didn't! They've been going bad for awhile.
The TPS out of range can be the TPS itself, you need the Meter to know, but replacing it is just about as cheap as buying a meter to test the old one.
The Computer may be fooled!
Unplug it, and let it come up and re-sync. Maybe you wont have so many problems to deal with.

I'm with Thudpucker- reset the computer. Easiest way to do that is disconnect the battery for a minute.

Well, it turned out to be the TPS all along . I unhooked it and took it for a test drive and aside from the check engine light being on , it runs perfectly and shifts precisely and smoothly. Hook it back up and it goes back to crazy, unhook it and smooth as silk. Ya figure it is my problem.
