Does it do it all the time or just when you first start out (cold?) My transmission is slightly jerky when cold but when it warms up a bit it goes away.

have you changed your trans fluid lately? my GM was shuddering when going into overdrive. had the fluid changed and shudder was gone.

Happens all the time, it is about 30,000 miles since the trans fluid was changed. Will change it, but this has been a problem since I've owned the car. Bought at 40,000 miles, 71,000 now.

I'm gonna guess it's related to the torque converter locking and unlocking for some reason...not sure what would cause that, but that's kinda what it sounds like.

replace all trans fluid including torque converter. A lube-gard product called Dr. Tranny fixed my 95 mgm. get it ai napa.

It's torque converter shudder....notorious on these cars. Tranny flush, including draining the torque converter. Fill to spec with MERCON V only.

You can also do a flush & fill with synthetic transmission fluid. It flows better in all weather. I run Amsoil ATF in my '99 Taurus and it shifts like its brand new. Installed it at 65 000miles. Amsoil is Mercon V compatible and is warranted for 50 000miles of severe service.

Sometimes this is caused by the modulator valve failing to seat properly. Friends CV had the same problem and he took it to a tranny shop. They replaced the modulator assembly and all the problems are adios muchachos!

This is the easiest and most common fix for this problem. As Dry said, use only spec Mercon, that is critical.
