Hows everyone doin. IO'm new to this site.And from what I seen so far seems like an awesome and informative site. I'm looking for some help.I have a 1997 Crown Vic 4.6 (police package) I'm having trouble with the OD. At first it would'nt engage.At the time this happened I was at highway speed 70MPH plus. Pushing the OD button on the shift lever did nothing. When the lite finally went off (( OD ) is on, I noticed the trans seemed to shift a little funny.At least it was shifting through all the gears. Not long after this I noticed the OD lite flashing at times. Plugged a scan tool in and the code was a malfumction in the trans solenoid.
Im not a trans guy by any means,but I do know my way around an engine. If pointed in the right direction I'm sure I'll be able to tackle this problem.
So I sure would like to hear from you if you know where this transmission solenoid is located. Thanks for your help

trans soleniod is on the side of the transmission were the shifter linkage is .When replacing it make sure you line it up properly. Check for broken wires before you buy a new one.It should come with a diagram on how to aline it .

Thank you for your help. Someone told me that it was internal. That I had to drop the pan. I'll check it out first thing tomorrow. When I picked up the solenoid from the parts store I was under thew car trying to see if I could see it around the trans. So when told it was internal I just thought it was. Again thanks for your help. I'll take a closer look
