Could anybody from aps please let me know why APS not being a so called retail outlet are fitting and tuning so many uni chips to people here on the forums.if i was still a uni chip dealer i would be not be very happy as to be a dealer you must pay a very large fee to be a dealer.it was my understanding when i was a dealer that aps would not do retail work fiting uni chips.one of the main reasons for us not being an agent is because dealing with aps you find that it is a one way street and it only goes there way.advertising in magazines only lists aps not there dealers and the dealers are told that all enquires will be passed onto them, reading all of these posts it appears that that is no so.all of the melbourne dealers are being done out of the work that is supposed to be sent to them.as a non dealer and knowing the rules i find this very hard to understand as i once spent money to be a dealer.
thers no good tuners in perth ,straight from the horses mouth, any negative comments on aps or unichips you dont have to wait long before rod or mark jump on the wagon to protect there messiah, sickening

Rob, How are you? Here's the info you requested though not sure why it's a concern for you in any event as you're not a Unichip dealer.
1) APS has always installed and tuned Unichips and will continue to do so as APS is a tuning business and we need to keep up with latest model cars in order to assist the Unichip dealer Network.
2) We Normally Unichip and tune 40 to 50 cars a month, nothing to speak of really as there are thousands of cars on the road for Unichip dealers to tune.
3) Not sure where you understanding came from though it's certainly wrong, APS will always dyno tune and install Unichip computers for both retail and trade customers.
4) Many dealers in Melbourne do heaps of Unichip work and tuning in fact one of the bigger Unichip dealers is located within 3 kms of APS and he has no concern with APS installing and tuning Unichips so why should you have any concern?
5) APS has tuned many Ford cars (GT's and GT-P's) for FF members because of the the many customer referrals we receive and the fact that we have retuned and sorted out a number of GT cars that have been tuned elsewhere, Rob it's a free world and people can come directly to APS if they wish. I believe that Many FF members also know that APS has the best and most up to date tuning facility and equipment in melbourne and that APS has 20 years of experience in tuning most types of engine management, and that we always go the extra yard to achieve the best possible result for the customer.

its not about protecting anybody its more about telling the facts as it is, it easy to critercise other's & its plain to see that you are not fond of the A.P.S. product just as its easy to see that i am
its no secret that i have a Unichip on my Ute & that i am very happy with it, if you can spare the time do a search & you will see that in the begining i gave it a good bagging just like you tend to do now
you will find that i was actually going to fit an X-ede to my car & after a few heated open discussions with Peter i actually issued him a challenge to fit a Unichip to my car to see if it was as good as he said, prices we discussed & a time was aranged & now the rest is history
what is your history with the Unichip, have you had a bad experiance with it or an A.P.S. Product or are you baseing your judgement on what you have read from others
Rob I have a unichip installed by APS and I am glad that I have the option of choosing to have them install it and tune it. I have done so because when I met Peter and was shown around the place and met his team I chose them because I felt comfortable with them.
I have also met and had discussions with other Unichip dealers who I also have faith in and I would have no hesitation in having work done by them on any future cars I have. I have met these dealers through APS directly and so they will benifit from having been introduced to me by APS in the future.
So to me the consumer, it seems like a two way street. If Peter wanted to, I am sure he could open up a bigger workshop and install exclusively in Victoria.
Now I am not a dealer so I am not aware of the fees involved in being one. But the good thing is you have the choice not to and you have decided for your own reasons not to be an agent anymore and thats cool.
Rob you have been great for the Ford fans of the world with your outfit being at the leading edge of aftermarket go fast bits for many years and you will be for many years to come. But if current agents of unichip have issues with the way APS conducts their operation I am sure they will take it up with Peter in a more discreet manner than an open question on a public forum.
not trying to cause any trouble here it is just the fact of reading so many people talking about uni chip and all seem to be having them fitted at aps,if my thoughts were wrong i apoligise but it just looks to me that the other melbourne dealers are not getting a fair go .,

It's a free world you know and FF members can go to which ever Unichip dealer they are happy to do business with, it's simply their choice and thanks for being so concerned regarding the issue. :coo:
i dont think rob needed to be told where unichip dealers are located,so your long winded reply was what? go back and check past posts and there you are the three amigos

If given the opportunity, would you ever consider a program that could give you all of the ability of the "edit" thing, but in real time? Also, is there such a product on the market?

Absolutely and we have a program that will do the VR/VS/VT holden engines in real time and we purchased the program in 1994 (fantastic program).
In my opinion real time tuning is the most important element for thorough and accurate engine tuning.
This Australian designed tuning software we have for the VR to VT holden engine makes the American LS1 edit program look like drum brake technology..........lol

HI Rob, you have looked after myself and my ute several times, i would like to explian why i went to aps for a unichip. As you know i had an Xede it was installed at another shop and tuned there also.. only because you were busy and in Adeliade with your BRutes and short of time. i had a chat to you because i wasnt happy with the shop that tuned my ute and they had 2 goes at it.
after you tuned it i dropped 0.200 1st up strait away was a great tune, still have that tune on Rods laptop..
so after Rod had very good results with APS.
i gave the Unichip a try on the condition that if it didnt out perform the Xede the Xede would be put back on my car at no cost back to me..
1ST time out i dropped 0.130 its not bad considering i already had a chip.
its a different car to drive, pulls better though all the gears...
my brothers AU 6 dropped 0.550 on Unichip alone..
Rob i reffer your products to many members here, you have done more for FORD aftermarket performance than anyone in Australia. i talk up anyones products that help me get to where i want to go..Rob if you check through my posts i have stuck up for your products also because there good and you stand by what you sell.

(guys dont turn this into a chip war thread all i am doing is explaining why i went to APS, as the question was asked why APS is installing unichips)

Do you think that this sort of tool will ever be available for BA Falcons? The reason I ask is that I think it would be great if we could get our car "real time tuned" but without the use of a piggyback computer.
I'm looking at doing mods to my G.T as well and I'm no computer tuner or mechanic I'm lucky to know the basics, so when talking to tuning shops and trying to deciper through all the BULLSHIT who knows what to believe.
So the only way for me to see what works and what doesn't is to hit the Forums and see what others have done and if it's worked!
Now I've never met Peter from APS or even talked to him, likewise with Rob from Herrods. Now I'm sure they both know what there doing, but the fact is the only one that seems to post before and after Dyno sheets of improvement on customers cars is APS. I've never seen dyno sheets of Herrods performance products or piggy back computers so I don't know what they can do or if they work! So how about we see the results! So as far as I'm concerned for the moment if I do my mods It will be off to APS for a unichip as I know what I can expect by what I've seen not what I've been told by the tuner!!!

i'll tell whats funny is how active peter has become since that new edit is in the news, coincidence my arse, you would believe john howard and i dont think i bagged the unichip itself just somepeople involved with it
