That was in the transmission dispstick tube from the factory to keep junk out of it. They push in during install and ends up in the tranny pan. Throw it away and continue on.

Yup it's nothing. Used when Trans built as a plug for dipstick hole. When dipstick installed it falls into pan.

Question HERE is current situation-- what is this I found in my trans pan and where does it go?

May I ask a few questions??

hope its ok...

when I dropped the pan I got a little over a gallon of fluid out... but only 3 qts. went back in...

could I have been overfull from a machine flush??

I have some Mercon V in the trunk just incase I notice it low in the next few days or weeks....

everything seems fine, except...
it seems to take a second ( its just not ready to go forward maybe 1/2 a second) to shift into gear from park or reverse.

my driveway slopes to the street and it will actually start to roll backward a smidge and then its fine.
Its great around town and on the highway.

Have I caused this with the pan drop?( the car is so new to me I am not sure if this is how it was, but I don't think so)... or is this an indicator that I need to have it machine flushed? *** I did not rotate the motor and drain the converter*** or do the flush thing with the top transmission cooler line***

could it get worse after a flush? or is that slight delay an actual slip? (Doesn't make any noises, whines or clunks-just takes an instant to be ready to go ) or do you think fresh fluid would make it better?

I am thinking it was 85000 mile fluid in the pan possibly 55000 mile fluid but I do not see it was done in the service records I have..

Thanks for your help... I hope I am not bothering you.

Tom

Should hold more than 3 quarts on a pan drop. You sure your checking it at hot idle on level ground? As far as engagement 1/2 second isn't bad at all. I think spec is within 3 seconds.

Yup, HOT idle park.... check check check

at work today they said I am probably like a 1/2 quart low..

I didn't actually time how long it takes but it is longer than any car I have ever owned including my other CVPI
