Washing your motor can be costly

Long story short, I bought some degreaser and sprayed the motor down. I washed it off with a water hose.

As soon as I start the engine my belt tensioner pulley started screaming away! I fixed by replacing the pulley. The guys at the auto store tried to force me to buy the whole belt tensioner assembly. One guy said I needed to because they come together

Re: Washing your motor can be costly

If the bearing was bad, washing the motor wasn't the cause. We've washed MANY engines and not had a problem. We make sure the engine is hot. We leave it running while we clean them and for 15 min. after.

The idler pulley just went bad as well.... just replace it too. The degreaser had to some how got into the bearings. I mean both pulleys failed at the same time.
