water in front pass floorboard

Hello,I have a 97 grand marquis that has a water leak in the front pass area.I pulled back the carpet so I could get access to the firewall on the right hand side and had my son spray water at the base of the windshield ,while he was doing this I located the leak, the water drips out from the seam behing the heater plenum. Any ideas on how to fix this problem would be appriciated. thanks.

I had the same problem with my 94 GM. Instead of paying $70 for a new cold air intake duct all I did was run a healthy bead of caulking around the duct screen. It is located under the hood just above the blower motor. Hope this helps

Yes this is true, however unfortunately my A/C wasn't working at the time. But after an extensive rain storm I found that my Blower Motor Housing was full of water allowing it to run inside along the wire harness flooding out the front and rear floorboards. Open your hood using a bright flashlight, look into the air intake duct above the blower motor and see if the ducting is full of water. If it is dry it out and run a bead of caulking around the screen. Unless of course you want to spend $70 US dollars for the entire duct. (Ford does not sale the gasket only for this)
