confused What Do You Think Is Wrong With My Crown Vic??

I have a 97 crown victoria that has overheated and i just towed it to my house. I just now looked under the hood and noticed my intake manifold was cracked. I removed my spark plug wires and they were spongy at the tips( where the wires meet the spark plugs). There is no water/coolant mixed in oil. I removed spark plugs and there was no oil on either one but they were worn. I replaced the wires and the plugs and the motor turns but it kind of wines as it turns over but won't start..........WHAT DO YOU THINK IS MY PROBLEM???

I'm guessing the intake manifold has never been replaced? It's time. The older 4.6s came from the factory with a plastic intake manifold, including the coolant crossover at the front. Over time, the heat of the coolant gets to the plastic and cracks it. They all do it sooner or later. Fortunately, the new intake manifold that you buy will have an aluminum coolant crossover in it, and that'll last the rest of the life of the car. Replace the intake manifold and keep driving. :)

i would recommend buying a new one. make sure it is a ford piece and not a dorman. dorman is aftermarket. some people have had fitment issues with those.

just make sure the new one you get has an aluminum crossover in the front. that is the updated style.

Re: What Do You Think Is Wrong With My Crown Vic??

Was there not a factory recall on that, you could get a free one installed? That offer may be expired but it is not unheard of for a manufacturer to make exeptions for an original owner/low mile car or something like that. Standing up on a chair in the show room and yelling..........
