I am new to this forum. I just purchased a 2008 Grand Marquis with 3,694 miles!
I have never owned a panther, but have various other ford products.
1968 XR7 Cougar 1989 Lincoln LSC 1988 Turbo Coupe (converted to "408") and a 2005 500 Limited
I will not receive this car for about 10 days, but what problem areas should I be on the lookout for?

I just retired from a fleet job that had the Police Crown Vic. version and I can't think of anything that is a problem area. They were one of our best vehicles. The E350 E450 transit buses had around 300,000 miles when we get rid of them.

My Crown Vic is a 2005, has 120,000 miles on it, and had the crap kicked out of it by a police department for five years and it runs like a top. You're more likely to have your car damaged by an asteroid strike than to have mechanical issues.

really after the DBW setup was all sorted out in '06-'07, there really aren't any problem areas w/ the newer cars. there is still the intake manifold issues that are common to all 4.6L but it is far less common after Ford revised the part in '02.

I have 192k miles on mine and it still runs fantastic, apart from needing new valve seals (which 95s were prone to valve seal failures) still runs great. Just stay on top of tune-ups and oil changes and this car will last MANY miles
