My GF has a 2003 grand marquis and I've driven it enough to have a good feel for it. For the second time in 6 months I'm making a left hand turn getting on the expressway. It was lightly raining both times and it happened at the same location both times. I wasn't going fast. I just came to the curve and started turning left and here comes the rearend around. My GF was impressed with the way I kept it under control but I want to know what's a nice big heavy car doing fishtailing at low speeds?

Check all of the links for the rear axle. The bushings being worn can cause that.

I will have it checked out. I do know it has continential tires on it. I don't think that's one of your better quality tires on the market. Awhile back I had checked the treadwear, traction and temperature ratings on the tires. I can't recall the numbers/letters right now but I remember thinking the treadwear rating was pretty high. I know the higher that number is the harder the rubber.

Dont think you can blame the Continental tires too much as they are a decent German tyre that have sold well throughout Europe for a lot of years and are fitted as original equipment on a variety of BMWs Mercs , Fords to name a few . Saying that , sometimes changing makes of tires can transform a car in relation to handling , steering , ride etc .
