Worth it to spring for a newer 2006+ over an 03-05? (Grand Marquis)

People are asking about 13k - 15k for the newer 06+ cars, but it seems the 03-05 have lower asking prices, for example 8k-10k. Mileage on all cars is 30k-60k ballpark. Is it worth the extra couple thousand to jump for a 2006+ car? I'm mainly concerned with the feel of the interior, comfort level, creature comforts, etc. Thoughts?

Mechanicaly they're about the same. In a few years, the newer one will sell for the same as the older ones now. What counts is how YOU feel about the car. I like them all.

I'm planning a cross country road trip, and the biggest priority is a buy a good car for it, my 91 camaro doesn't fit the bill. Grand marquis seems like the best car for my money. Not looking to spend over 10k. I know i mentioned creature comforts as important, but reliability is of utmost importance. Don't want to be stuck broken down on highway 50 in the middle of Nevada, if anybody knows what I mean.

I worked in a local government repair shop. We had over 100 Crown Vics for City and county law enfocement. My experience is that there are NO major weaknesses. Once in awhile a coil pack and a few various problems that were too varied to pick one out. They didn't treat them very nice and they held up VERY well. I read once about a cab company in Pennsylvnia that had a 95 with over 600,000 miles and some 98s with over 400,000 miles. Mine has 152,000 and I'd trust it to go anywhere. It was an ex Sheriff car. On the road I get around 25MPH. It's geared higher than the ones you're looking at so you should do even better.

06 and up has screwed transmission cooler system,
don't know, if this subject was ever raised in this forum.
I work with Ca Highway Patrol - they all complain on radiator fans getting burned and transmission failure. And keep replacing fans and transmissions. When beginning of the problem still there.

We have had some cooling fans go out but even on older ones. Not all of them had the problem. No transmissions at all and they do a lot of starts and stops around here. Maybe the California weather is hotter and that takes a toll.

I'm talking about massive failures
/maybe, weather/
gee, they put transmission cooler lines into condensor.
and transmission tempreture sensor into the cooler line.
and it's getting hot and sensor turn the fan on high speed and fan working non-stop.
and nothing helps, unless you parallel another cooler
