How big are yours?

One question that always gets asked on Disco forums is...

"What is the largest tyres I can fit on my Discovery?"

Well, I thought I would show you my new boots.

They are Goodyear Wrangler AT/R 265x70x15

The Disco has +1 inch H/D springs and, as you can see, the new tyres fit with room to spare around the arches. There was no alteration required to the stops on the steering and they should clear the inner arches (not tried that one yet though :s6: ).

I went for 265x70x15's because they are wider and slightly taller that the 235x75x15's that were on there but not as tall as 31x10.5x15's as I think these may catch the arches.

The wheels are Compomotive VS 7x15's, incase you were wondering.

Have fun with those tyres

With a 2" lift and only a little trimming of the rear arch 235*85 are around the largest.

I run on 225*75 which are around 1/3 of and inch taller than stock.

If you feel so inclined you can pop to the following url to see what differences the changes have made.

Cheers,

Neil

That's a good site, wish I had known about that before I got the tape measure out. :s6:

I was looking at 31x10.5x15's to start with but I think I would have been cutting thoughs arches so settled for the 265x70 with a slightly smaller dia'.

Plus I was looking for width rather than height as most of the off-roading up here is on peat tracks so floatation is the name of the game.

Cool,

Quite the opposite here, I was doing simple mug plugging on grass and rock crossings so a narrower tyre was a better choice for me.

I found with too wide a tyre I was floating when I wanted to be digging and equally it was not as easy to get the tyres on a thin rock ledge without them sliding off with that sickening thump when you hit the ground (if lucky) or the sills often as not.

Cheers,

Neil
