Track Rod Ball Joints

Hi,

Anyone noticed a difference in quality between the LR ball joints £20 and the OEM £5 ones?

Mine are due for replacement but I don't want to throw cash away :s6:

Replaced the joints (what a job!) and took out the play in the wheel bearing.

Steering is now as solid as a rock.

I brought pattern copies from a local dealer.

I’ve done 90K miles on the LR set so if I even get 40K from the copies I’ll still be quids in.

Fitted a recon steering box last year, other than a slight grumble in reverse and on full lock drives well and feels stable.

Cheers,

Neil

i have thought about a power steering conversion as mine never had power steer but the price for the parts required was prohibitive to say the least . and of course i had to get the model with the poxy shim ajustment box instead of the screw ajustment. so the drop arm is diffrant ect ect its sad to say but old land rovers here are a dieing breed :( (good second hand) parts are rare as rocking horse poo here
