1986 F 150 91000 miles 5.0 EFI

I have a 1986 F 150 2 wd w/ 5.0L EFI, auto, 91,000 original miles. Two weeks ago going down the road the enginne quit running for no apparent reason, plenty of fuel etc. Had it towed to a repair shop, the next morning it started right up. Ran for another 2 weeks and same thing. This time I had it towed to my house. Sure enough the next morning it started and ran fine. My daughter took it to school that evening, I got a call a couple house later, truck started then stalled and wounld not start. She tried 2 hours later and it started, ran for 2 minutes and then stopped. Tried it the next morning, wouldn't start. Great. Towed it to a repair shop 3 blocks away and dropped it off. They started it and drove it into the garage. They had it for 2 days trying different things but it kept on running, started every time. Whats up?

Hey everyone thanks but, I got the answer.
ICM, Ignition Control Module. Fairly simple replacement, except it is inside the distributor.
$90.00 later and I am on the road again.

Thanks for your help....

Don't want to give everyone bad info. The ICM is not in the distributor but attached to the outside. You have to remove the dist. to pull the ICM down enough to disengage the contacts. Anyway, sure fix and only $42.00 at NAPA. The rest of the $90.00 was for beer, hey, its been hot here in Michigan. Thanks Again.

And If u really want to get more bang for your buck, get one with the "B" between the C & the M , making it a ICBM. If the salesperson looks puzzled, it sometimes helps to modify the pronounciation slightly. More like this: (TFI Module)
