1989 F-150 Vapor Canister Problem

My vapor canister (part of the emissions system) on my 1989 Ford F-150 (5.0L)is occasionally leaking fuel and I was wondering if instead of replacing it, and have the problem potentially coming back, if I could bypass this canister altogether. Has anyone ever done this? If so, let me know if and how it can be done. Thanks

Re: 1989 F-150 Vapor Canister Problem

I will tell you that yes this can be done, but I'm not exactly sure how. I own a '90 and a mechanic told me that the only way I could ever dream of passing an emission test (ontario) would be to bypass.
