1989 F150

I just bought a 89 f150 and I was told it had a 351 in it. How do I find out what motor it really has. I am just beginning to learn how to work on cars and I bought this to pretty much be my learning car. Any help would be great. Thanks

Re: 1989 F150

go to a site where you can run the Vin number. itll tell you everything that came with the truck assuming that the engine has not been replaced or pulled. if thats the original stock motor. you should be able to run the vin and iutll tell u. if not, take it to a ford dealership, they can identify it for you

Re: 1989 F150

If the 8th digit of the VIN is H, it's a 5.8L; if it's N, it's a 5.0L; if it's Y, it's a 4.9L.

Buy the oldest edition of the Haynes manual you can find.
