1990 F150 Gas Problem - Ford Forums

Hey everyone I am a new guy here on the ford forums, so forgive me if this questions has been asked before. I have a 1990 Ford F150 4x4 that thinks it is out of gas at a half a tank. When I first got the truck it used to use a full tank with no problems, but a year or two later when driving home on the interstate it ran out of gas and it had a half a tank left. I have asked some friends about the problem and have gotten two different answers. One was the floater is bad and the other is the fuel system controller or something like that is bad. No I know it is not out of gas and reading wrong when it says half a tank, because I only get about 100-125 miles for the half tank. So I ask anyone here if they know what the problem might be. At a guess I think you might have to look at the pickup point and see why it is sticking , maybe pull it and check ?
