Arrow 1990 F150 Vacuum issue?

I have a 90' F150, 5.0L, 5 speed stick. The issue is that, only sometimes, when I press the clutch to change gears, the engine either holds rpm's or slightly increases rpm's. After a few seconds the rpm's will lower like normal. Occasionally I need to "goose" the throttle and that will get it to come down too. Again, doesn't always happen but it normally occurs after driving 6 or 7 miles down the road after everything has had a good chance to warm up. Clutch seems normal, doesn't shift hard, slip, or anything like that.

A friend of mine said it could be a vacuum issue..

Thank you for your time!

Re: 1990 F150 Vacuum issue?

It could be, but then the idle wouldn't come down after goosing it. My guess is the IAC sticking. Advance sells IACs in Wells brand boxes, but the IACs have the Ford PN pin-printed on them, so they're actually Ford parts at ~1/2 the price. Read this, and its caption, and the NEXT one.
