1992 F150 6 cyl. potential problems ??

i'm buying a 92 F150 with a 6 cyl engine. i have never owned a ford before so i'm not sure what i need to be looking for on these trucks. anyone know of any well known problems with this particular vehicle? the owner has stated that the oil pressure guage occasionally goes to 0 while he's driving it. oil pump or guage?

Re: 1992 F150 6 cyl. potential problems ??

GAUGE. I've owned 3 F150. First) 1992, inline 6, reg cab, 5spd, 4x2=Ford bought it back!!!!! Very hard to get it started. Driving on freeway, door chimes came on. I was literally @ the dealership 1-2 times per week for several months.

Second) 93, 5.0, supercab, 5spd, 4x2. the ONLY problem I had with this truck was the paint!!! Begged the ford rep to allow the dealership to repaint the hood & roof. No luck, but gave me a smoking deal on the one I own today.

Third) The BIG DADDY of them all. 95, supercab, eddie bauer, 4x4-Posi FRONT & REAR, manual locking hubs, off road pkg, handling pkg, tow pkg, suspension pkg, overload springs-front & rear.

Make NO miskake, in the 14 yrs I've owed it, it's been driven like I stole it EVERY single time i'm behind the wheel!!!! I am the ONLY 1 that drives it. I live in az. This truck has been 2 n/e Iowa, east texas x 2, cali 3 times. I've never had a flat, been broke down, stuck (even w/jeep clubs!!), changed a bulb, and beleive it or not......Its NEVER FAILED to start!!!! 14 yrs ppl.
P.S. Still has the original battery in the key fob!!!
However, 1/2 the time my oil gauge doesn't work. Changed the sender=no difference. Talked 2 a ford mechanic, the oil gauge is well known 2 all ford repair shops to keep in stock!!
