2000 F-150 Immobilizer - Ford Forums

Hello: My year 2000 F150 exhibits these symptoms. Sometimes it will start and sometimes it won't although it will crank on both situations. Fault code is 16 meaning a communication error between transponder and PCM. What I have observed is that When I wiggle the PCM located on the passenger side kick panel, the vehicle starts and then I wiggle it again and the vehicle won't start. I have done this a couple of times to really be sure if the wiring fault is in this area. I traced the Tx and Rx wires from the transponder module on the steering column to the PCM connector and could not find a direct continuity. What I would like to know is if the Tx and Rx wires from the transponder module directly connects to the PCM or if it will still connect to some other module and then this module connects to the PCM. If so, may I know what this module is and where it is located ?

Well, it seems that nobody here knows anything about this or is just not willing to share information. Anyway, I did my research and now I know that the PATS connects to the BEM and then the BEM to the PCM. Can someone tell me where the BEM is located? In a Falcon 2003 the BEM is piggybacked with the ICC. I'm just asking to save me time in finding the location of the F150 BEM.
