2000 F150 4.2 V8 The indicator lights go on and floor shifter will move through low and high. I can feel the transfer case go into Low range. But the hubs are not engaging (got stuck in snow on paved road this AM!). The last time I had this problem it fixed itself when I got the tires changed (probably all the beating around jarred something) I was told that the hubs may be solenoid activated and spring loaded and that things may have been a little gummed up. Besides just banging the crap out of everything (I'm not sure exacly where to bang) I am thinking of a more permanent and yet inexpensive sollution. ANy Ideas of what and how to clean Etc.?

hello, center disconnect 8.8 axles are solenoid operated. a vacuum line runs to the solenoid,check to make sure this line is in good condition. i don`t know if this line is shown on the under hood vacuum diagram,my wife took truck to work or i would look.its shown on page 4-43 in chilton 26666 manual. i will look at axle later and tell you where solenoids are located.
