2000 F150 starter grinding

Hello all,

Newbie here to this forum, I have 2000 F150 that has an intermittent issue with the starter grinding. This only happens about 5% of the time you try and start it. I have looked at replacing it but seems wierd that it only happens periodically. Anyone else had a similar experience?

If so how hard is it to change the starter? It looks to be a pain to get out?

Sounds like it is giving you a warning sign. Failure to replace may cause damage to the flywheel. That will make changing the starter look like a piece of cake.
