Re: 302 or 351w?
wow this F-150 forum is slow anymore lunatic ?
to answer your question is a toss up because everyone has a different opinion on what they like or want for the $$$$ they spend.
first off there is not alot of gain from a 300 to a 302, yea 2 more cylinders but only 2 cubes of displacement.
personally on bottom end i think the 300 feels stronger than a 302.
the V8 will stall easier than the 6 with the standard trans but with a cam and a few other mods that 302 will come to life.
the 351w would be sweet but it will be harder on the clutch and gas pump.
its hard to say HP numbers to someone because they change so much my 97 4.2l v6 is rated 200 hp but my 86 351w was rated 245 hp but in the real world my 5.8l at top end makes 180 hp more than the 4.2l and 200+ ftlbs of torque more.
thats a difference in tow capacities of 3,200 lbs with the 4.2l and 9,800 lbs with the 5.8l.
