4.2 L intake manifold

My 4.2L is leaking coolant around the intake manifold. At first I thought it may have been the bad gasket problem. But I took it to the dealership and they said that the coolant has corroded the tube in the manifold, resulting in a leak. I have yet to see my truck since I've dropped it off, but I wanted to know what some of you think. Also, is it difficult to replace the intake manifold by yourself? Special tools? wiring? The dealership is asking $2000 for this job, no way in hell am I going to pay that.

One more thing, where can I find an OEM ford 4.2L intake manifold? I've searched advanced auto, NAPA, edelbrock and could not find any.

Re: 4.2 L intake manifold

$2000 sounds like a lot of money. You can get an intake manifold for a lot less depending on the year. What year is it?

Look around for a you pull it junk yard
By pulling the part off your self you will soon see if this is a job you want to do. If you get half way into it and screw up just walk away and find another one or find a mechanic to do the job for you.
