You probably didn't hurt a thing. The problem with locking the front axle and driving on hard road is the circumfrounce of the tires is different, due to wear. And they will fight each other because they are covering different lengths of road on each revolution. You don't have this problem on sand, dirt, mud, etc. The tires will slip easier.
