Arrow 5.0

Alrighty, I've got this 1995 F150 2wd, with the 5.0, with 190,000 miles. It's indeed on it's last leg. Very last leg, I think.

I have limited engine savvy, not enough to rebuild an engine or swap one. This truck is worth keeping, everything else (trans, rear-end, etc) is basically brand new. There isn't a speck of rust anywhere, and the interior is flawless. And, I have the money to spend on it.

Any idea on how much it would cost to get her rebuilt/swapped?

Sounds like a really stupid newbie question, but that's what I am: a really stupid newbie.

Re: 5.0

Welcome to the forums. Sounds like you got yourself a good truck. Got any pics to post up?
I'm not to sure of a price for you on a rebuild. I'm in Australia so the pricing is a bit different. I guess the major factor for how much its going to cost you is how much you want to get out of your motor. Do you want to just rebuld it to stock or do you want to work it some or want to work it heaps? I think the best way to start would be talk to your local mechanic or a local auto shop and find out pricing and what is best for you. Hopefully it turns out well for you.

Re: 5.0

Thanks. Right now I'm in talks with the owner, and he says I have every ability to back down and give the truck back (payments haven't been made yet). I might just do that. If I'm going to be working on a truck, I'd like it to be 4wd. It's just that this thing's interior and exterior are so nice and the tranny is brand new. But I have little faith in this thing's 5.0 right now.

But thanks for the input! I'm gonna call some shops today so check out some rebuild/swap ballpark-prices.

Re: 5.0

What do you want the truck for? 4wdriving? Towing? Could always throw in a 351 which will give more power for not much more than a rebuild of the 302.

Re: 5.0

Can't do much four wheel driving with a two wheel drive.

Alright, I admit it. I have taken this 2wd onto the trails already, but that's besides the point.

Mostly, just my screwing around truck. It'll see mild amounts of trails, do some hauling, and probably be beat on. Power would be great.
