'77 F150 Suspension

I would like to lower my truck a little to give it that 'sport rake' look. I know I'm going to need lowered i-beams for the front. However, I was wondering if my truck has the same suspension as a same year F-100. The reason I'm asking is that I found an all-in-one kit for the F-100 that would be cheaper than buying the i-beams and shackle kit seperatly.

TIA,

Aaron.

Re: '77 F150 Suspension

If your truck is 2wd, you can also get lowering spindles for the fronts (assuming they make them for your truck) rather than messing with the stock geometry up front. The spindle is held in place by the upper and lower ball joints and can be easily changed to a "drop" type spindle that essentially moves the center of the wheel up.....which in turn lowers the vehicle. The good thing is that the stock steering geometry, springs, shocks, etc. are unaffected.

The back is a simple job with either a spring or shackle kit but may require new shocks, depending on how much you drop it.

That's about all the advice I can offer on that. Not sure on whether or not the suspension parts from the F100 will work on your F150....

If you are in Australia, check American Custom Truck in Qld. They sell DJM lowering products. I'v dealt with these guy's & they'll respond to you via E-mail quite quickly.

Re: '77 F150 Suspension

As far as I am aware the Front suspension is the same set up on the 77 models. I have not seen anything to say it is different.

regards,

john

I agree. Mine is an F100 and every part I've ever bought has been the same.

I'll warn you about a 'sport rake' on any Ford with twin I-beams. You will alter the steering geometry and cause the truck to continually wander on the road. It will not go straight down the road and it gets tiresome. The suspension is designed to have a nearly level frame and too much rake will give you headaches.
