This should be an 11". I know that they had a 10 1/16th version too. Depends mostly on what trans you would have in your truck. But the guys at autozone can tell you which one it is by the vin and the info they have there to look it up with.

vin numbers dont have information about transmissions, so how would they know by the vin...when i go to buy the clutch there, the screen asks me if its a 10" or 11" clutch...im thinking 11" is for 4x4?

He may have been mistaken. I know that in the VIN you should be able to check the Plant, braketype, GVWR class, restraint system, Line series, engine type, model year, world manufacturer ID andalso production sequence number.

I do know that in the 70s and early 80s models they had a Check digit in the lock face of the drivers door. You should be able to find your axle code there as well. The later 80s models I am not sure of.
