Hi guys

is it possible/relitively easy, to change the 2 speed c6 to a 4speed auto

Are there any ECU controlled function on the c6 at the moment

Can i get a new seletor display so it shows 1,2,3,D,N,R rather than the current 1,2,d,n,r ??

Would there be any othe mods required??

The C6 is a 3 speed tranny. What vehicle do you think has the C6 in it? Your '89 F-150 with the 5.0 should have the E4OD, a 4 speed with electronic overdrive lockout. The gear selector looks like P-R-N-D-2-1 because the button on the end of the gear selector engages or disengages the overdrive.

the c-6 is a 3 speed vaccum operated trans !
the aod trans is a 4 speed which will interchange but im not sure if the driveshaft is identical.
the e4od is the electonic controlled version of the 4 speed auto.

in your 89 truck you have P R N D 2 1 on your selector.
1 is first gear only
2 is 2nd gear only
D is 1 2 3 in full auto controlled by the vaccum modulater.
and the obvious reverse and park
that is the C-6 auto trans.

if you have a 2 speed trans you better check the modulater cause it should be 3 speed.

sorry guys it was late when i post the thread up - the truck currently has a 3 speed c6 in it

How common are the aod g/boxes - don't wont to go Electronic, more hassle to setup.

I've got the Just parts magazine which has a place in Thomastown Victoria, with the Ford AOD 4 speeds for sale. They are about $500. if you want me to send the phone number, maybe you could ring and ask questions about if it would be suitable. There is also a place in Sydney which have the AOD 4 speeds for $1650 but they're computerised. I'll see what else i can find for you.
