'89 Ford F-350 Centurion Conversion - Ford Forums

This is my '89 F-350 Centurion Conversion. It only had 79,000 miles on it back in '96 when I bought it, just turned 300,000 miles a couple of months ago. I have driven it from coast to coast too many times to count and have only had one major problem, I blew the oil rings out of 3 cylinders and had to put a new longblock in. Should be good for another 296,000 miles. :)

New 460 longblock assembly, K&N Filtercharger, Doug Thorly Headers, Dual Optimas, 200 amp alt,Pioneer CD head unit/12 disc changer, 3 amp=2400 watts, 4 10" sub's, Infinity component speakers. New GT 500 hood and repaint coming soon!

Worked at dealership back when they were new. The store sold two. They were a real nightmare.

The major problems was with the rear section that they fabricated and installed. The rear doors to the Bronco top were terrible. The top wasn't just screwed on with a rubbler gasket like a Bronco. They had it glued on with windsheild butal tape.

Nothing fit and leaked terrible. I remember we had to send one back to factory to repair. They had it for quite a while too.

Some of the non factory wiring was rough too.

Sorry, didn't mean to rain on your parade. They do look good, but, quality was definatly an issue.

Thanks for the post. The rear clip is a source of problems on all 3 versions 1/2,3/4, and the one ton. I haven't seen any with a serious rear door problem but the roof seam on the 1 and 3/4 ton models will stress crack and you have to keep an eye on it. The 1/2 ton models don't seem to have as big a problem @ the "clip line."
What years were you at the dealership? Could be the earlier models didn't have all the bugs worked out?
Oh well, I'd rather fix a Ford than buy a Chevy.

I was in the dealership end for more years then I like to remember.

Like 1970 to 1995. I remember those Centurion conversions. The one we had the big problems with was a F350 4x4.

Believe me when I tell you nothing fit. Had to be around 1990 or so.
