92 F150 Ecm?

I have a F150 4x4 with a manual transmission and the 6 cylinder engine. It has done perfect the few years I have owned it, but a while back I was pulling through the back yard with it and it just died. I could smell a burnt smell, like circuitry, not wires, coming from underneath the driver side of the dash.

It wont start now. There is no spark, no fuel pump operation, nothing. It does crank though.

Someone told me that the ECM's on these are bad to burn up. Is that true and is the ECM under the drivers side of the dash? What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Pass. side. You should be able to visual the drvr side source looking for signs of thermal damage. check Fusible links including ones not grouped off the starter selinoid, like ecc relay which is found closer to the relay & reg. fuses. If a circuit blew Look for related cause, it wasn't just a temper tantrum. Then attenpt a KOEO scan prior to trying to restart to see whats reporting for duty and what might be AWOL Including the ECU.
