94 Ford F-150 Performance specs and a couple questions?
Howdy doo all, Im new to the forum, this being my first post and all, and I had a couple questions to ask, as well as just introducing myself and saying howdy. Which I said, go me. Yep.
Anyway, On the questions..
First, I just got a 94' F-150, it was my Grandfathers, he bought it new in 94, then when he died two years ago it went to my Mom, she didnt take very good care of it and the engine more or less bit the dust about 4 months back.. At which point I started nagging her for the truck and eventually got it. I'll be dropping in a new engine in the next few months, as soon as I sell my little Toyota Paseo, and was curious.. What are the performace specs on a 94 F-150 with a 5.0 (2wd)? Not an extended cab, and the bed is standard size (8 ft). By specs I mean rated HP/Torq, and perhapsd 0-60 and 1/4 mile times?
My intentions for the truck are simple at heart.. I want to improve its performance and looks, without losing its usefulness and integrety as a truck. ie, I want it to be fast, and pretty, but I still wanna load the bed down, or haul a car, or what-ever, whenever the mood strikes me to do so. And some basic performance specs will let me know where I stand now, and help me formulate a plan once the truck is up and running again.
My second question,
How hard will this truck be to get into the 14 second range? Mid 14's that is, because thats my goal. I drove the truck for years off and on when it ran, and im *guessing* it runs something like mid to high 16's all stock, but I know that huge V-8 can crank out some power with a little work. I do anticipate grip problems though.. As it would spin those back tires at the drop of a hat when she ran..
And finally,
The engine replacement itself looks pretty problem free. The engine is so damn big almost everything is attached to it, heh, so that leaves little to disconnect, it looks a little hard to get out, being as the truck sits so high an ordinary engine hoist couldnt handle it, but i figured on removing the tires and lowering the truck with jacks till its more or less laying on the ground, that should give me the clearence I need, BUT! If anyone has done this before, any advice, or info on problems you ran into would be very much appreciated. Btw, Ive done a couple engine swaps before so I know my way around a car and a tool bench, but experience is key.. and I dont have it with large domestics..
Anyway, sorry im so long-winded. Later folks, and Im damn glad to be rocking a big-ass peice of american v8.. Ive spent the last couple years in very small, very anemic 4 bangers, and Im tired the the weazing little buggers. =]
