Hey I bought this truck off an ex coworker and she never changed the oil among other things i had it running great but lately I have noticed a huge increase in gas consumption. There is also a coating of carbon in the tail pipe and a stinging sensation to the eyes from the exhaust and its not burning antifreeze. I have no codes no lights no indication except being a gas hog and ideling a tiny bit funny. I have heard that the coolant temp sensor could be the problem and mine did break off where the wires connect but they still stayed connected. I tried running the engine with the broken end off and a light came on but i put it back and the light went away. So any suggestions would be great.

Alright well i have tried replacing the coolant temp sensor, and cleaning the mass airflow sensor. all with no results. Could it be the plenium gasket to the lower intake. Im running out of patience and hair to pull out any help would really be helpfull. please help

i had a problem like yours in a diferent veh. and what i do fixed it, clean the trotle plate,iac valve,and injector service thes 3 steps solved the problem it may work on your truck

Service the induction system.
All the carbon build up in there is killing your Gas Mileage and causing a rich run situation.

Well after changing all the vaccum lines, coolant temp sensor, cleaning the maf and throttle body, testing the fuel regulator and tps, it seems to be doing a little better on gas not as much as i would like but ill probably do a lot better after my rebuild in the next few weeks(i have some worn out rings). I plan to change out the old injectors and give a good cleaning to the induction system. thanks for you help
