My brother has a 1997 F150 Supercab with a 5.4L engine that he wrecked a couple years back and the front cap is in bad shape but the engine is still good. He has an opportunity to get a 1999 F150 Supercab with a blown 5.4L engine that has a good condition body. Does anyone have any ideas as to what complications could be found in swapping out the engine and transmission from his ’97 to the ’99? Could there be any electrical connections or mechanical issues that might be a problem? He does not want to buy the truck if it would be more trouble than it is worth. I have exchanged engines on older vehicles but not on any this new with all this electronics to consider. I would think that being only two years apart and same engine setup that we could do it without any major issues.

You may want to check out a Chiltons manual and see if there are any major diffrences. If anything keep the origional electrical accessories (distrubutor, starter, front accessory bracket) with the truck and just change the core engine and transmission. The mounts should be the same if the body style is consistant.
