Ok, so I bought this truck, it didn't run, guy said it just needed a new fuel pump. (I know lesson learned) I replaced the fuel pump, which actually was bad, got it to run, but has horrible misfire. I replaced all of the plugs and wires and didn't help. The truck does run now, but it seems to still have a pretty bad misfire, it will not move even when it's floored. So, other than to junk it, or buy a new motor, or buy some expensive testing tool, does anybody have any suggestions I can do in my driveway. Otherwise, if any one is interested in taking the truck and giving me what I've got in it :) let me know!

the 4.2 is a notorious motor for blowing a head or piston so my guess is its a serious problem that needs to have every cylinder checked one at a time to determin what is really goin on.

first thing to look for is run it for a few min which you probably did and then see if antifreeze is in the oil and crankcase after it cools some and seperates outta the oil.
its really bad if the oil isnt clean and looks more like brown mud.
if the guy changed to oil to prevent you from seeing this problem before the sale i bet oil residue will still be inside the rad overflow tank.
