99 f-150 problems

I dealer has my 99 f150 4.6l. I'm having problems with my heat and air. When the air is on you push on the throttle the air starts coming out the defrost vents and the temperture control is not working. My dealer is saying that my catilytic converters need to be replaced this is what is causing the problem. Has anybody ever heard of this. Thanks Paul

WOW!

I can not for the life of me see how these two would be related.

Perhaps your a/c is dysfunctional, but the vehicle also has Catalytic converter problems and they want to fix the latter.

I might also humbly suggest that you misunderstood them.

No I Didnt misunderstand them I just got off the phone with them and they claim this is the problem.I have talked to other mechanics and exhaust companies and they dont think it is the problem.I just dont know what to do. i dont want to spend alot of money for something that wont fix it.

I would definitely be looking for a new dealer. Whoever told you that is trying to crook you.

Update. Took my truck to a muffler shop and they cant find a clogged converter and thinks my dealer is crazy. So I'm taking it to a bigger ford dealer for a second opinion. Thanks

They SUCK!!! I defy them to connect those dots!! I thought I could sling some bull. That's fraud and their not even Good at it. report them to at least the BBB & Bureau of auto repairs written estimate would even be better. Anyway. there are some small Vac lines on the passenger side that go through the firewall. They switch the venting when the levers are moved by vaccuum motors. The lines develop cracks & leak on one or the other side of the fire wall. P/u a manual, not that hard to fix.
