I just bought an "03" F-150 w/4.2 L V6 I was thinking of getting rid of that anchor of a muffler that is attatched to my exhaust pipe and replacing it with a Flowmaster or Gibson Highflow muffler, also would I benefit by adding the K&N filter charger kit or will the K&N filter replacement be sufficient.

yes the aftermarket mufflers will help with some performance. and as for the filter i would stick with only the filter and not spend the extra money for the whole charger kit.
the little or no gain you would see is not worth the extra money you spend if these are the only mods you make. if you were going to dual exhaust or changing tha cat converter then you might see more of a gain with the improved intake.
the other thing to consider is if this truck has mass air it will respond better to mods like these.
i dont know what type of intake system it has but maybe 92 bigbronco does and could explain a little more to you.

Being a 03, i dont think hed have any problems with mods and performance like pre 95, speed density trucks.

Go with exhaust and intake kit. Get more air in and out. Ford engines respond well to more air.

My son who is a Chevy mech., says to get the K&N Highflow intake system and just swap the muffler with an aftermaket one like Flowmaster.
