have a 1999 ford f-150 xlt super cab we always smell
antifreeze with or without the ac on and when it's on
we can see smoke coming thru the vents that looks like
fog what should we do and how do we replace the heater core
if that is what we have to do to fix this problem we need to do something right away not only due to our health but our grandson is going to be here
soon and we dont want him to have to breath that in

Sounds like the heater core. Most likely need to remove the dash for R&R of the core. Just follow the directions in your repair manual and you should be ok.

Replacing a heater core is not an easy job on almost any vehicle. I had an old car that had a bad core, so I unhooked both hoses from the core and hooked them together (by-pass). That was OK until it started getting cold out and no heat!

Glad to know I'm not the only one that's done that. One day it's +5 then the next day it's -5 with lots of frost. Arg.
