Blown instumentation fuses

I purchased a used '97 F-150. The truck is cherry and runs smooth as silk, but, it periodically blows the 5 amp fuse to the instrumentation. No rhyme or reason to when it occurs. I can go weeks or it will happen a couple times a day. I did catch it happen once when I accelerated merging into traffic with my left turn signal on. Other than that I have been unable to observe when it happens. I have tried everything I can think of in an effort to make it happen and it doesn't work. I'm at the end of my wits! Please, Help!

Re: Blown instumentation fuses

I have had that happen as well, for no reason my dash lights would blow a fuse and I couldn't tell how fast I was going or anything. It suddenly stopped and has never happened since so sorry I couldnt be of much help to you, but this does seem to be a problem for a few people.

Re: Blown instumentation fuses

i was hauling a trailer and the wiring for the lights on it wasnt set up the same as mine so it would blow the fuse every now and then. so maybe thats what it is if your hauling a trailer and it does it. other than that it might be a wire grounding out somewhere and blowing the fuse.
